Written by

The Department of Science and Technology (DST) initiated the Innovation Bridge Technology Showcase and Matchmaking event to provide the first opportunity of its kind for national and international technology-based companies, technology entrepreneurs, investors, financiers and other technology commercialisation partners, to access the latest and best publicly funded technology offerings from South Africa’s universities, science councils and companies supported by the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA).

The inaugural Innovation Bridge event was held on 2 and 3 February 2015 and included technology exhibitions and demonstrations, policy dialogues and plenary discussions, training sessions and one-on-one meeting opportunities where visitors and participants interacted directly with researchers and technology developers from research and development organisations, as well as TIA-supported projects and companies.

Million Baby (Pty) Ltd was established in 2011 and is a company passionate about innovation and making vibrant products that are exciting, trendy, creative, fun and up to date for your baby and toddler. They endeavour to provide entertaining and engaging products that complement your baby or toddler’s development and lifestyle as well as making parents lives simpler and easier. The company showcased the TodPod: a first of it’s kind 3-1 multi-functional toddler bag that converts into a table and chair for toddlers. Unlike your conventional table and chair the TodPod is lightweight, portable compact and you can pack in your toys colouring books pencil case etc.

The selection of Million Baby to participate in the inaugural Innovation Bridge event follows recent success on the Dragons Den TV programme as well as a finalist position in the acclaimed Big Break Legacy reality TV show.
