Caban Business Development team announced

The Caban Group of Companies are excited to announce the launch Caban Business Development (Pty) Ltd with an impressive team. 


The Caban business model entails the assistance of entrepreneurs from concept through to a fully operational and capitalised business and has not included the provision of capital – until now.


Caban Business Development, referred to as CBD, has been established to place enterprise development funding into companies through a Section 12J company that is in the process of being registered. An investment in a Section 12J Venture Capital Company (VCC) allows an investor to deduct 100% of their investment from their taxable income, in the year in which the investment was made. This is subject to the provisions of the Income Tax Act No. 58 of 1962. This benefit is available to companies, trusts and individuals. 


Through CBD, Caban will be able to invest capital directly as opposed to finding capital through our angel investors’ network. The team will be headed by two Caban Capital PLC directors, Dave Romero and James Anderson. They will be supported by the following team:


Langa Herbert Nzuza


Langa is an accomplished businessman who holds a Degree in Labour Relations Management along with a number of business management and entrepreneurial focussed certificates. He is currently completing a B.Comm (Honours) in Strategy Management through Regent University.


Langa is an experienced mentor and has worked extensively with both private and public sector partners to create leadership development programmes most notably the Women Entrepreneurs Development Programme for the Department of Economic Development in KwaZulu Natal. He founded the Small Business Association at the Durban Institute of Technology as well as the South African Federation for Entrepreneurs Development (SAFED) which sowed the seeds for the creation of the KwaZulu Natal Youth Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KYCCI).


A former President and board member of the BMF in KwaZulu Natal, Langa is the managing director of Full Phama Consulting. A soft spoken and humble gentleman, Langa gives much of his time to the development of others and has been a board member and advisor for Bambanani Arts Kwazulu Natal –organization for disabled with artistic abilities from 2003 to date.


Nicholas Viljoen


Nicholas is an optimistic, enthusiastic and versatile individual with a strong determination to succeed and a keen lifelong interest in the corporate finance and business industry. 


A graduate of Stellenbosch University who majored in finance and investments, Nicholas has experience with large listed companies and clients in various industries including oil and gas, banking, aviation, manufacturing and retail. Having completed his CFA level 1, Nicholas is currently enrolled for CFA level 2 and has also completed course covering mergers and acquisition, forex trading and business negotiations. 


Nicholas enjoys running, golf, rugby, soccer and boxing – as well as keeping up to speed on the latest in the world of Formula 1 – and reading financial magazines and biographies. 


Charlene Lamb


Charlene is an energetic, ambitious person who has developed a mature and responsible approach to any task that she undertakes, or situation that she is presented with. A seasoned professional, she is passionate about people development, small businesses, leadership and economic transformation. 


Charlene successfully ran four incubators based in Durban, Cape Town, Richards Bay and Port Elizabeth. This experience has provided her with the tools and networks to effectively mentor, support and grow SMMEs and design initiatives that significantly improve their sustainability. A personal achievement was receiving the award for best managed incubator in the Shanduka Group from the Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Minister of Small Business, Lindiwe Zulu.


Her sound project management skills coupled with strong stakeholder relations skills blend to give her an edge in whatever she applies herself too.
